Still standing, Dad
LANCASTER -- George Francis Goldbach passed away on February 11, 2003 after a 10-year battle with prostrate cancer. If I were able to visit his grave today, I would carry with me words clipped by Euan Semple from Mary Frye. They gave me solace when I first read them and will remain with the Mass card that I save from dad's funeral.
Don't stand by my grave and weep,
For I am not there.
I do not
sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond's glint in the
snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's
rain.
In the soft blush of the morning light
I am the swift bird in
flight.
Don't stand by my grave and cry,
I am not there,
I did not
die.
