Irish blogging carpetbaggers

GAVINSBLOG -- The ever-alert Gavin Sheridan spots initial political blogging activity in the neighbourhood of the Meath and Kildare by-election. These are not political blogs--they're more like first steps to onlne diaries. Pearse Taylor reviews them as ; I think that awards them a status that erodes the term "blogging".  Sustainable blogging starts with freshly updated content that flows from links pointing in and out of a site. Blogs show comments, trackbacks and memes that extend beyond the original post. These kinds of structural elements suggest an actively engaged readership. Without that readership, you have an echo chamber that's no better than vanity publishing. That's what the "blogs" cited by Taylor appear to be at the moment. Perhaps they're sustainable. At the moment, they're little more than an attemplt to be trendy.
