Yahoo in Flickr

FLICKR -- In a move that made sense when first mooted on several mailing lists, Flickr joins Yahoo! This marriage reduces the amount of traveling I do every day on the internet as I trust Yahoo! with my mail and use its Launchcast for much of my music tracks since it is one of the only audio services that slips through our academic firewall.

Flickr is providing the same kind of academic service--fast photoblogging with strong social networking. Its Flickr API is a welcome piece of connectivity that is letting two multimedia degree students complete an impressive amount of work in a short amount of time.

I trust Caterina Fake when she says the Ludicrew will keep things laced together. I hope the money they get will bolster the data servers because Flickr will only increase in membership when folded into ithe Yahoo! suite of services.

This move is a good one for and bloggers everywhere. It also makes Yahoo 360 look more promising.
