I HAVE STARTED snapping images of those attending presentations I make so I have a record of the pregnant pause that prefaces every public speaking moment in my life. This one came in the Clonmel Park Hotel today before a speech at a meeting sponsored by PWDI.ie, snapped by my Nokia N70 cameraphone and sent directly to Flickr in two clicks. My phone uses Zonetag and when I share the images with others in the group, I get to mark out a place for Ireland. The image was an incidental blip in a 12-minute presentation that became a 24-minute [17.6 MB 96 kbps podcast]. Part of the presentation included a paragraph read by Magnetic Time, a text-to-speech program that we have put to effective use on the third level curriculum in Tipperary Institute.
PWDI is People with Disabilities in Ireland.
Zonetag is part of a Yahoo! Research Group in Berkeley.
