After a decade of riding Irish Rail, I have learned that I cannot count on my laptop power supply lasting more than 12 months if I use it for more than four hours a week aboard Irish Rail. The power outlets used under tables and between carriages put out more than 240V. That current makes my black Dell power adapters as hot as the outside of a cup of coffee served aboard the train. The higher power is also melting components inside the power bricks. I need another Dell ADP-70EB. It will be the third adapter I've acquired in the four year life of my Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop.
