WHEN LITEFEEDS HANGS on a user name/password prompt, it might be delivering a screen message that actually points to a separate problem. I mention this fact here because of several emails I have received about the problem. I don't work for LiteFeeds but I get a regular flow of questions about the mobile feed service after writing about LiteFeeds in the Irish Examiner. I often see a UN/PW message when my Nokia 9500 mobile phone cannot bind to a nearby WiFi point or when I have a weak GPRS data connection in my temporary accommodation at Ballyclerihan. I do not get the UN/PW challenge when going to LiteFeeds through a content scanner or proxy server.
I read 44 feeds regularly once a day on my Nokia 9500 through LiteFeeds but normally only scan the topics to find things that I like. I read no more than two excerpts for each of the 44 sites in my mobile-enabled LiteFeeds because of the length of my commutes. This process uses around 150 kb of data each week and that costs me a little more than one euro a week. It's good value for money and a great way to add value to typically dead commuting time.
