People interested in contemporary art are also interested in the fringe and few other cities offer a fringe experience better than the main event than Berlin. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall, the German capital has attracted artists from both Germany and eastern Europe. Berlin has a unique combination of historical depths, political connotations, and newly defined urban spaces that often spark aesthetic productivity. During the Third Berlin Biennial for Contemporary Art, numerous alternative venues displayed a spray-painted banana--heralding interesting collections of art inside.
